The period between World War 2 and the Vietnam War was a mish-mash of gear for US soldiers. The M-1956 Load-Carrying-Equipment (LCE) was intended to replace all former webbing systems and became the dominant system for the War in Vietnam. The largest improvements over former systems was the weight distribution and the modularity to add pouches easily depending on your mission. These suspenders were no less modular and could often be found being married up to older WW2 BAR belts - pretty much anything with eyelets.

Shaped like a capital 'H' the M56 system better distributes weight across your shoulders than its previous counterparts. The hooks on the ends of the straps hook into a regular M56 belt & pouches with eyelets and can be fully adjusted on your front and back. The shoulder areas have a light amount of padding for added comfort and a loop on each for attaching the likes of first aid pouches or other equipment. A great set for Vietnam war collectors or someone looking to build the foundations of a web-set for hunting or paintball.
